Mr Assad,
Normally one writes 'Dear' in front of a name. I have refrained myself from that as in my personal dictionary someone who is dear, is kind. You have ordered other people to kill many human beings and (this may not surprise you) that comes across as un unkind deed.
Apart from being a coward for not doing the killings yourself (because being a coward is not an issue here), I want to ask you to stop it. I am not a king, or an emperor. I am not a general, nor a minister. To you I am a normal man (I am a man, for what it matters), with a normal life. I do my groceries at a supermarket and sometimes I buy my bread in a bakery. I come to my house in the evening and I have nothing important I have to do. But that is exactly why I matter: I am a simple person with a set of normal functioning brains.
And they got me wondering why you kill all these people. I just do not understand that. You are the president of the country where you were born, Syria (in Holland we spell it as Syriƫ). A job with a lot of responsibility. You have to run a whole country whereas I only have to run for the train not to be late for work. Everyone knows being president is a tough job. And I am sure you love your country and fellowmen. At least, you must have loved them.
Now it is war. Many people die. Mainly because of you. And for what? Fame? Glory? Money? Power? Haven't you looked out of the window and seen what has become of your country and fellowmen? Two 'things' a president should love unconditionally? Where will this end? And what will become of your country and you name? Of all the people that are dead now (parents, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, best friends)? Perhaps you think it is too late to step back. But it isn't. A good leader does what is best for his country and for his people.
As the simple person from The Netherlands I am, I am asking you, Mister Assad, please stop having your (innocent) citizens killed. You are not gaining anything from more and more deaths, it only makes it worse and worse.
Yours sincerely,
ALbert
